OUR VIDEO AI IS HERE

Developing AI features is something which excites and causes anxiety at the same time. One can do some much with AI that whether or not it becomes useful is not always obvious. However, I know we have succeeded with this one.

As you can recall, 6 months ago I wrote a blog post about “AI-as-a-service”. I imagined having an “Analyse with AI” button. Back then, we did not have much AI capabilities in Media Pocket yet, since we were just about to release commercially. Slush came and passed, the year ended, then came the massive Australian wildfires followed by devastating COVID-19 pandemic. Everybody kind of went black and gray about their business and forgot…

At Slush 2019 in November with our v1.0

Well, that’s not entirely true. In February 2019, I had set an ambitious goal to have AI included in Media Pocket by Q4 2019. During 2019 however, we realized that we had to fine-tune our UX before we could release our v1.0.

Then came some unexpected (as they usually are) challenges towards the end of 2019, but we still managed to release Media Pocket with well-working and fine-tuned features – and an updated UI. Then came some unexpected (as they usually are) challenges towards the end of 2019, but we still managed to release Media Pocket with well-working and fine-tuned features – and an updated user interface. For this outstanding sprint, our development team deserves a huge thank you. So thanks, guys.

At the end of 2019 we set a realistic, public target to release our AI features during Q1 2020.

So then, enter 2020. “We are about to nail this sucker. We will introduce our AI features and show them to everybody.” Also soon entered the unpredictable: CORONAVIRUS.

It’s not like we could do anything about it, but “luckily” this only set us back a few weeks, since most of the work can be done remotely. Us being agile and so on.

I would say that considering everything that we had to do to get here, the setbacks, challenges, and furthermore the circumstances that we had to face, finishing just four weeks behind schedule was an all-around success. Again, thanks to our development team.

So to the point: We released our latest version of Media Pocket two days ago, and with that – our AI features are now public and ready to use. And damn yes, we are proud of it.

Our advanced Video AI recognizes:

Visual label analysis and linking

All these are also searchable. You can download our *.srt and *.vtt subtitle files as well. You can analyze hours and hours worth of material and then search through the transcripts for keywords. Or see how many times a certain word is used.
